Job Summary

To support a growing healthcare facility, the full-time California Licensed Inpatient Coder will accurately code and abstract inpatient cases from medical records, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and regulations while working remotely from Northern California.

Key responsibilities:
  • Reviews medical record documentation to identify and code diagnoses and procedures using appropriate coding classification systems
  • Organizes and prioritizes work assignments to ensure timely and compliant coding in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Interacts with physicians to clarify and accurately document patient diagnostic and procedural information
Required qualifications:
  • Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
  • High School Diploma or GED with completion of classes in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and coding conventions from an accredited program
  • Certification as a Coding Specialist, Health Information Technician, or Health Information Administrator
  • Basic knowledge of reimbursement methodologies and coding guidelines
  • Ability to achieve a minimum score of 75% on the KP Inpatient Coding test
