Job Summary
To support accurate medical documentation, the full-time California Licensed Inpatient Coder will code and abstract inpatient cases, including diagnoses and procedures, from medical records while ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and regulations in a remote work environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Reviews medical record documentation to accurately identify and code diagnoses and procedures
- Organizes and prioritizes work assignments to ensure timely and compliant coding
- Interacts with physicians to clarify and document patient diagnostic and procedural information
Required qualifications:
- Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
- High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical coding classes
- Certification as a Coding Specialist, Registered Health Information Technician, or Registered Health Information Administrator
- Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and disease processes
- Ability to meet established productivity and quality standards for coding
