California Licensed Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

To support accurate coding practices, the full-time California Licensed Inpatient Coder will remotely review medical records to code and abstract inpatient cases using ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Reviews medical record documentation to identify and code diagnoses and procedures
• Organizes and prioritizes work assignments to ensure timely and compliant coding
• Interacts with physicians to clarify and accurately document patient information

Required qualifications

• Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
• High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical coding classes
• Certification as a Coding Specialist, Health Information Technician, or Health Information Administrator
• Basic knowledge of computer keyboard and mouse usage
• Ability to maintain coding credentials and complete required Continuing Education units
