California Licensed Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

To ensure accurate coding and abstracting of inpatient cases, the full-time California Licensed Inpatient Coder will work remotely, utilizing ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems while maintaining compliance with regulatory guidelines.

Key responsibilities:

• Reviews medical record documentation to identify diagnoses and procedures for coding
• Codes all appropriate diagnoses and procedures using established coding classification systems
• Interacts with physicians to clarify and accurately document patient diagnostic and procedural information

Required qualifications:

• Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
• High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical coding classes from an accredited program
• Certified Coding Specialist OR Registered Health Information Technician OR Registered Health Information Administrator certification
• Ability to achieve a minimum score of 75% on the KP Inpatient Coding test
• Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and disease processes
