California Licensed Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

To ensure accurate coding and compliance, the full-time remote California Licensed Inpatient Coder will review medical records, assign appropriate codes using ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS, and maintain data integrity while interacting with healthcare professionals.

Key responsibilities:

• Reviews medical record documentation to identify and code diagnoses and procedures
• Organizes work assignments to ensure timely and compliant coding in accordance with regulatory requirements
• Interacts with physicians to clarify patient diagnostic and procedural information for accurate coding

Required qualifications:

• Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
• High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical coding classes from an accredited program
• Certification as a Coding Specialist or Registered Health Information Technician/Administrator
• Basic knowledge of computer systems and coding conventions
• Ability to achieve a minimum score of 75% on the KP Inpatient Coding test
