California Licensed Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

To support efficient hospital operations, the full-time California Licensed Inpatient Coder will accurately code and abstract inpatient cases from medical records, utilizing ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems while working remotely.

Key Responsibilities

• Reviews medical record documentation to identify and code diagnoses and procedures accurately
• Organizes and prioritizes work assignments to ensure timely and compliant coding in accordance with regulatory requirements
• Interacts with physicians to clarify and document patient diagnostic and procedural information effectively

Required Qualifications

• Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
• High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical coding courses from an accredited program
• Certification as a Coding Specialist, Registered Health Information Technician, or Registered Health Information Administrator
• Basic knowledge of reimbursement methodologies and current coding classifications
• Ability to communicate effectively with physicians regarding coding clarifications
