Job Summary
Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the California Licensed Inpatient Coder will accurately code and abstract inpatient cases from medical records, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and regulations.
Key responsibilities:
- Reviews medical record documentation to identify and code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS systems
- Organizes and prioritizes work assignments to ensure timely and compliant coding in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Interacts with physicians to clarify and accurately document patient diagnostic and procedural information
Required qualifications:
- Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
- High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical coding courses from an accredited program
- Certified Coding Specialist OR Registered Health Information Technician OR Registered Health Information Administrator credential
- Basic knowledge of coding conventions and reimbursement methodologies
- Ability to meet established productivity and quality standards for coding
