California Licensed Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

To ensure accurate coding and abstracting of inpatient cases, the full-time California Licensed Inpatient Coder will work remotely, focusing on coding diagnoses and procedures from medical records using various coding classification systems while adhering to regulatory guidelines.

Key responsibilities:

• Reviews medical record documentation to identify and code diagnoses and procedures accurately
• Organizes and prioritizes work assignments to ensure timely and compliant coding
• Interacts with physicians to clarify and document patient diagnostic and procedural information

Required qualifications:

• Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
• High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical coding classes from an accredited program
• Certification as a Coding Specialist or Registered Health Information Technician/Administrator
• Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
• Ability to achieve a minimum score of 75% on the KP Inpatient Coding test
