Job Summary
To ensure accurate coding and abstracting of inpatient cases, the full-time California Licensed Inpatient Coder will work remotely, applying ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding conventions while interacting with physicians to clarify patient information.
Key responsibilities:
- Review medical records to identify and code diagnoses and procedures accurately
- Organize and prioritize coding assignments to meet productivity and compliance standards
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity in accordance with regulatory guidelines and organizational policies
Required qualifications:
- Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
- High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical coding classes from an accredited program
- Certification as a Coding Specialist, Health Information Technician, or Health Information Administrator
- Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Ability to communicate effectively with physicians for coding clarification
