Job Summary

To ensure accurate coding and abstraction of inpatient cases, the full-time California Licensed Inpatient Coder will work remotely, focusing on coding diagnoses and procedures from medical records using ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems while adhering to regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reviews medical record documentation to identify and code diagnoses and procedures accurately
  • Organizes and prioritizes work assignments to ensure timely and compliant coding in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Interacts with physicians to clarify and document patient diagnostic and procedural information effectively
Required Qualifications
  • Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
  • High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical coding classes from an accredited program
  • Certification as a Coding Specialist, Registered Health Information Technician, or Registered Health Information Administrator
  • Basic knowledge of reimbursement methodologies and coding conventions
  • Ability to achieve a minimum score of 75% on the KP Inpatient Coding test
