Job Summary
To ensure accurate coding and abstracting of inpatient cases, the full-time California Licensed Inpatient Coder will work remotely, applying coding conventions from ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities
- Reviews medical records to identify and code diagnoses and procedures accurately
- Organizes and prioritizes coding assignments to meet productivity and quality standards
- Interacts with physicians to clarify documentation and ensure accurate coding
Required qualifications
- Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
- High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical coding courses
- Certification as a Coding Specialist, Health Information Technician, or Health Information Administrator
- Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Basic knowledge of coding compliance and reimbursement methodologies
