Job Summary
To ensure accurate coding and abstracting of inpatient cases, the full-time California Licensed Inpatient Coder will work remotely, focusing on coding diagnoses and procedures from medical records using ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
Key responsibilities:
- Reviews medical record documentation to identify and code diagnoses and procedures accurately
- Organizes and prioritizes work assignments to ensure timely and compliant coding in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Interacts with physicians to clarify and document patient diagnostic and procedural information
Required qualifications:
- Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
- High School Diploma or GED with completion of classes in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and current coding conventions
- Certified Coding Specialist OR Registered Health Information Technician OR Registered Health Information Administrator certification
- Ability to achieve a minimum score of 75% on the KP Inpatient Coding test
- Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to inpatient coding
