California Licensed Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

To ensure accurate coding and abstracting of inpatient cases, the full-time California Licensed Inpatient Coder will work remotely, focusing on coding diagnoses and procedures using ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS systems while meeting productivity and quality standards.

Key responsibilities:

• Reviews medical record documentation to identify diagnoses and procedures for coding
• Codes diagnoses and procedures in compliance with regulatory requirements and coding guidelines
• Interacts with physicians to clarify patient information and ensure accurate documentation

Required qualifications:

• Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
• High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical coding classes
• Certification as a Coding Specialist, Health Information Technician, or Health Information Administrator
• Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
• Ability to meet established productivity and quality standards for coding
