California Licensed Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

To support accurate medical record documentation, the full-time California Licensed Inpatient Coder will code and abstract inpatient cases using ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems while working remotely and ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.

Key responsibilities:

• Reviews medical records to identify and code diagnoses and procedures accurately
• Organizes and prioritizes work to ensure timely and compliant coding of records
• Interacts with physicians to clarify and accurately document patient information

Required qualifications:

• Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
• High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical coding courses
• Certification as a Coding Specialist, Health Information Technician, or Health Information Administrator
• Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
• Ability to meet established productivity and quality standards for coding
