California Licensed Jumbo Underwriter

Job Summary

Evaluating and qualifying loans, the full-time remote California Licensed Jumbo Underwriter will manage the underwriting of conforming, high balance, and jumbo loans, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations while maintaining direct endorsement certification with HUD and VA.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite loan files in accordance with FHA, VA, agency, investor, and credit union policies
• Review and analyze mortgage applications for compliance with regulations and credit union standards
• Communicate loan decisions and manage application turn times to meet departmental targets

Required qualifications

• High school diploma required; college degree or equivalent preferred
• Minimum of 3 years of current FHA experience with DE and VA experience with LAPP/SAR designation
• At least 10 years of responsible real estate lending experience in underwriting analysis
• Strong knowledge of the real estate mortgage industry and related guidelines
• FHA Direct Endorsement Underwriter and VA LAPP/SAR certifications required
