Job Summary
To ensure compliance and accuracy in medical coding, the full-time California Licensed Medical Auditor will conduct routine audits, provide education to coders and providers, and assist with audit preparation while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct routine and focused audits of medical coding to ensure compliance with standards
- Develop and deliver education and feedback to improve documentation quality and coding accuracy
- Maintain audit tracking logs and prepare detailed audit reports with actionable findings
Required qualifications
- Active AAPC (CPC) or AHIMA (CCS-P, CCS) certification
- Minimum 3 years of medical coding experience, with at least 1-2 years in a coding audit, QA, or compliance role
- Strong understanding of HCC/risk adjustment coding principles and clinical documentation improvement
- Excellent command of medical terminology, anatomy, and coding practices
- Proficient in EHR systems and coding software
