Job Summary
To support a growing team, the full-time temporary California Licensed Medical Auditor will conduct audits of medical coding for compliance and accuracy, provide education to coders and providers, and assist with audit preparation, all while working remotely until January 31, 2027.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct routine and focused audits of medical coding to ensure compliance with standards
- Develop and deliver education and feedback to improve documentation quality and coding accuracy
- Maintain audit tracking logs and prepare detailed audit reports with actionable findings
Required qualifications
- Active AAPC (CPC) or AHIMA (CCS-P, CCS) certification
- Minimum 3 years of medical coding experience, with 1-2 years in a coding audit or compliance role
- Strong understanding of HCC/risk adjustment coding principles and clinical documentation improvement
- Excellent command of medical terminology, anatomy, and coding practices
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting with a reliable internet connection
