Job Summary
To support a growing healthcare facility, the full-time California Licensed Medical Coder will review clinical documentation, apply appropriate ICD-10 codes for inpatient surgeries, and ensure compliance with coding guidelines while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Review clinical documentation and apply ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for diagnoses and procedures
- Resolve billing-related errors and participate in quality review meetings to maintain a productivity standard of 95% accuracy or better
- Abstract required information from medical records and query physicians for clarification when documentation is unclear
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of a certified coding program or CAHIM accredited HIT program
- Five years of progressive inpatient coding experience in an acute care facility
- Extensive outpatient coding experience in multiple areas of specialty
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification required
