Job Summary

To support accurate medical coding and compliance, the full-time California Licensed Outpatient Coder will be responsible for coding and abstracting diagnoses and procedures from medical records for outpatient services, ensuring adherence to regulatory guidelines while working remotely.

Key responsibilities:
  • Review medical records to identify and code appropriate diagnoses and procedures using ICD-CM, CPT, and HCPCS classification systems
  • Ensure timely and compliant coding by organizing work assignments and meeting established productivity and quality standards
  • Interact with physicians to clarify documentation and maintain the accuracy and integrity of coded data
Required qualifications:
  • Two years of continuous hospital coding/abstracting experience within the last five years
  • High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical coding courses from an accredited program
  • Active certification as a Registered Health Information Technician, Certified Professional Coder, or equivalent
  • Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and disease processes related to coding
  • Ability to achieve a minimum score of 75% on the Hospital Outpatient Coder test
