Job Summary
To ensure accurate coding and abstracting of medical records, the full-time California Licensed Outpatient Coder will work remotely, focusing on coding diagnoses and procedures for outpatient services in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
Key responsibilities:
- Review medical records to identify and code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-CM, CPT, and HCPCS classification systems
- Ensure timely and compliant coding by meeting established productivity and quality standards
- Interact with physicians to clarify and document patient information accurately
Required qualifications:
- Two years of continuous hospital coding/abstracting experience within the last five years
- High School Diploma or GED with completion of courses in medical terminology, anatomy, and current coding conventions from an accredited program
- Active certification as a Registered Health Information Technician, Certified Professional Coder, or equivalent
- Knowledge of coding guidelines and reimbursement methodologies
- Ability to maintain coding credentials and complete required Continuing Education units
