Job Summary
To support accurate medical documentation, the full-time California Licensed Outpatient Coder will be responsible for coding and abstracting diagnoses and procedures from medical records, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines while working remotely.
Key responsibilities:
- Review medical records to identify and code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-CM, CPT, and HCPCS classification systems
- Ensure timely and compliant coding by meeting established productivity and quality standards
- Interact with physicians to clarify and accurately document patient diagnostic and procedural information
Required qualifications:
- Two years of continuous hospital coding/abstracting experience within the last five years
- High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical terminology and coding classes from an accredited program
- Active certification as a Registered Health Information Technician, Certified Professional Coder, or similar credential
- Knowledge of current ICD-CM and CPT coding conventions and guidelines
- Ability to achieve a minimum score of 75% on the Hospital Outpatient Coder test
