California Licensed Product Counsel
Job Summary
To support a growing product legal function, the full-time California Licensed Product Counsel will manage Nex's privacy program, advise cross-functional teams on product lifecycle legal issues, and develop compliance frameworks for children's privacy and emerging AI regulations, all in a remote work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Own and maintain Nex's privacy program, ensuring compliance with COPPA and other children's privacy regulations
- Advise Product, Engineering, Trust & Safety, and Design teams on legal risks throughout the product development lifecycle
- Build playbooks and scalable legal review processes to facilitate efficient product launches and compliance
Required qualifications
- J.D. and active bar membership in good standing (California or another U.S. state)
- 4-7+ years of relevant legal experience, including in-house product counseling and law firm experience
- Deep experience with children's privacy compliance (COPPA, GDPR-K, etc.)
- Experience advising on consumer protection law related to subscriptions and marketing claims
- Ability to create legal frameworks and processes from scratch
