California Licensed Senior Counsel

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Senior Counsel to build its legal function from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including SaaS agreements and licensing deals
• Oversee employment matters, including offer letters and separation agreements, while managing compliance and risk
• Advise on legal implications of AI/ML features and manage corporate governance and outside counsel relationships

Required Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and active member of the California Bar (or ability to waive in)
• 7-10 years of legal experience, including 2-3 years in-house at a technology or SaaS company
• Strong commercial contracts experience with the ability to manage deals independently
• Working knowledge of employment law, IP basics, and privacy/data protection regulations
• Experience building or maintaining a compliance program (e.g., SOC 2, privacy frameworks)
