California Licensed Senior Home Loan Underwriter

Job Summary

To support the evaluation and qualification of Government loans, the remote California Licensed Senior Home Loan Underwriter will underwrite FHA, VA, and USDA loans, ensuring compliance with agency requirements while managing application turn times and providing support to Underwriters and Home Loan Advisors.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite loan files in accordance with FHA, VA, USDA, and credit union policies
• Review and validate FHA and VA insured loans using HUD's online systems
• Communicate loan decisions and manage workflow to meet established turnaround times

Required qualifications

• High School diploma required; college degree preferred
• Minimum of 3 years of current FHA underwriting experience with DE certification and VA experience with LAPP/SAR designation
• At least 10 years of responsible real estate lending experience in underwriting analysis
• Strong knowledge of mortgage industry standards, FNMA, and FHLMC guidelines
• Current certifications as an FHA Direct Endorsement Underwriter and VA LAPP/SAR
