California Licensed Surveillance Epidemiologist

Job Summary

To support the Occupational Lead Poisoning Prevention Program, the full-time California Licensed Surveillance Epidemiologist will manage the California Adult Blood Lead Level Registry, collaborate on compliance issues, and prepare data reports while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Leads the operation and maintenance of the California Adult Blood Lead Registry, making decisions on program direction and surveillance activities
• Collaborates with the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Branch to address lab compliance and reporting regulations
• Conducts data analysis and disseminates findings to stakeholders through reports and scientific publications

Required qualifications

• Ph.D. in Epidemiology or a related field, with at least two years of post-doctoral experience in public health
• Experience in designing and conducting epidemiologic studies, particularly in occupational health
• Proficiency in statistical software such as SAS, R, and/or Python
• Evidence of prior publications as a primary or co-author
• Ability to analyze complex data and translate results into actionable prevention recommendations
