Job Summary
Supporting the SVP of Agency Underwriting, the full-time California Licensed Underwriting VP will manage escalations, oversee the Agency Underwriting Scenario Team, and facilitate communication across various departments in a remote capacity.
Key responsibilities
- Review and complete escalations requiring Second Level Reviews and communicate decisions to the VP of underwriting
- Conduct mandatory daily team calls to discuss and review Second Level Review escalations, providing thorough feedback
- Manage the Agency Underwriting Scenario Team, ensuring compliance with SLAs and conducting regular spot checks on team performance
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Finance; advanced degree preferred
- 10+ years of experience in mortgage underwriting, including at least 2 years in a management role
- Extensive knowledge of risk evaluation and regulatory compliance
- Strong understanding of FHA, VA, and conventional loan programs
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to provide constructive feedback to improve team performance
