California Non-QM Underwriter

Job Summary

Evaluating and deciding on mortgage applications, the remote California Non-QM Underwriter will actively underwrite Non-QM loan files, interpret investor guidelines, and conduct income analysis while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Actively underwrite assigned Non-QM loan files, issuing approvals, suspenses, or conditions in alignment with internal policies and investor requirements
• Interpret and apply complex investor underwriting guidelines to provide clear conditions to Processors and Loan Officers
• Calculate borrower income using traditional and alternative documentation to assess eligibility for loans

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of recent mortgage underwriting experience, specifically with Non-QM products
• Deep understanding of alternative income documentation types such as bank statements and P&L statements
• Prior experience in Non-QM and manual underwriting is required
• Conventional FHLMC & FNMA experience required
• College degree or an equivalent combination of professional experience and education
