California Payer Contracts Manager

Job Summary

Managing the full lifecycle of payer agreements, the remote California Payer Contracts Manager will evaluate, negotiate, implement, and monitor contracts while collaborating with various internal teams to ensure financial sustainability and operational execution.

Key responsibilities

• Manage payer, IPA, and medical group contracts from initial review through negotiation, execution, and renewal
• Develop and maintain relationships with California IPAs, medical groups, and health plans
• Evaluate reimbursement rates and contract terms to assess the viability of agreements

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, finance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
• Five or more years of experience in managed care contracting or payer relations
• Direct experience negotiating contracts with California IPAs and delegated medical groups
• Established knowledge of the California managed care landscape and common IPA contracting structures
• Strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement methodologies and contract structures
