California Payroll Compliance Manager

Job Summary

Seeking a highly organized and experienced California Payroll Compliance Manager, this full-time hybrid role will manage end-to-end payroll processing, oversee compliance across multiple jurisdictions, and partner with various departments to ensure accurate and timely payroll execution for both U.S. and international employees.

Key responsibilities

• Own and manage end-to-end payroll processing for U.S. employees and oversee international payroll operations
• Ensure payroll compliance across federal, state, local, and international jurisdictions, including timely tax filings and regulatory requirements
• Administer payroll-related aspects of employee benefits programs and support audit readiness through organized documentation and internal controls

Required qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive payroll experience with ownership of end-to-end payroll operations
• Hands-on experience administering payroll through Rippling
• Deep understanding of federal, state, local, and international payroll compliance requirements
• Experience managing multi-state payroll environments and supporting bonus and commission calculations
• Strong knowledge of payroll-related GAAP accounting principles and experience with financial audits
