California Payroll Lead

Job Summary

Overseeing payroll activities for approximately 2,000 employees, the full-time California Payroll Lead will manage payroll processing, ensure compliance with regulations, and provide guidance to the Senior Payroll Specialist while working in a hybrid environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage accurate and timely payroll processing, reporting, and auditing for exempt and non-exempt employees
• Serve as a subject matter expert for payroll operations and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve payroll-related inquiries
• Train managers and supervisors on Time & Attendance processes and support payroll initiatives and projects

Required qualifications

• 5-7 years of end-to-end payroll processing experience, preferably with UKG Pro
• Associate's degree in accounting or related field preferred
• Solid understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and payroll regulations
• Minimum two years' experience with a large Human Resource Management System
• Bilingual in Spanish and English strongly preferred
