Cataloging Librarian

Job Summary

Working in a hybrid remote capacity, the full-time Cataloging Librarian will manage original and copy cataloging of digital collections, provide reference support, and create metadata for a major Federal Agency in Silver Spring, MD.

Key responsibilities

• Perform original and copy cataloging of monographs and serials in Ex Libris Alma and OCLC Connexion according to RDA, AACR2, MARC21, and local practices
• Edit and upgrade existing records to align with RDA, MARC21, and updated local practices while maintaining detailed metrics for reporting
• Assign controlled subject terms and headings, and create or modify holding and item records as directed

Required qualifications

• Master's degree in library/information science from an ALA-accredited institution
• Minimum three years of experience in library technical services, specifically in cataloging/metadata
• Recent experience with integrated library systems (ALMA) and OCLC system
• Proficiency with cataloging tools such as OCLC Connexion, AACR2R, RDA, LCSH, NACO, MARC21, and authority files
• Considerable experience in library technical services operations with original and copy cataloging experience
