Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Catering Coordinator on a contract basis, the role will manage high-volume catering logistics and menu planning for TED conferences at the San Diego Convention Center while collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners, requiring a strong presence in the local market.

Key responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate catering and banqueting orders, ensuring clear communication and accurate reporting with Sodexo Live! and internal stakeholders
  • Develop and refine menus that prioritize quality, variety, and dietary inclusivity in alignment with TED's food guidelines
  • Oversee on-site catering operations during conferences, managing local staff and proactively resolving service issues
Required qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in high-volume catering operations or management, preferably in a hotel or convention center setting
  • Proven ability to manage logistics, including concurrent orders, menu planning, and banquet setup
  • Experience in budget management and tracking spend while working with catering teams and venue partners
  • Strong organizational skills and a solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving in fast-paced environments
  • Familiarity with planning systems and spreadsheets (Google Workspace/Microsoft Office) and strong local knowledge of San Diego
