CCDS Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist

Job Summary

To support clinical documentation needs, the part-time CCDS Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist will ensure the quality and completeness of medical records while facilitating modifications through collaboration with healthcare staff in a remote capacity.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the overall quality and completeness of medical records for all payor groups and DRG classifications
• Facilitate modifications to clinical documentation through concurrent interaction with physicians and nursing staff
• Educate the patient care team on documentation standards and practices as needed

Required qualifications

• CCDS or CDIP certification required
• Coding certification: CCS, CRC, or CIC required
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Clinical Documentation Specialist in an acute care setting
• Experience with EPIC EHR and knowledge of risk adjustment coding (PSI/HAC/HCC)
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent medical education required; International Medical Graduate preferred
