Job Summary
Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the CCS Certified Inpatient Auditor will assist in developing education and coding quality improvement initiatives, analyze coding and documentation issues, and perform second-level coding quality reviews to enhance compliance and reimbursement.
Key responsibilities
- Analyze, review, and resolve coding and documentation issues related to reimbursement and compliance
- Perform focused second-level coding quality reviews to support coding specialists and document trends in coding inaccuracies
- Conduct research on policies and guidelines to aid in the development of internal coding policies and focused audit plans
Required qualifications
- Associate's degree in Health Information Management or a related field, or equivalent work experience (minimum of 4 years of HIM inpatient coding experience)
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification is required; RHIT or RHIA credentials preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of inpatient coding experience required
- 1 year of education, training, and auditing experience preferred
- Must pass AHIMA-approved inpatient Coding Specialist IV assessment prior to hire
