Job Summary
To support a growing team, the part-time Certified Anesthesia Coder will manage the accurate and timely coding of anesthesia services remotely, ensuring compliance with CPT, ASA, and ICD-10-CM standards while collaborating with clinical teams to resolve documentation discrepancies.
Key responsibilities
- Codes anesthesia professional services according to current coding guidelines and applies appropriate modifiers for medical direction and supervision
- Reviews anesthesia records and documentation to validate accuracy and completeness before charge release, addressing discrepancies as needed
- Manages Epic PB Charge Review work queues to prioritize and resolve aging anesthesia charge batches, preventing billing delays
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or relevant coursework preferred
- Active anesthesia coding credential from AAPC or AHIMA, such as Certified Anesthesia and Pain Management Coder (CANPC) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on anesthesia coding experience, including knowledge of base/time unit calculations and modifier assignments
- Proficiency in Epic PB Charge Review or similar coding platforms
- Strong understanding of HIPAA privacy requirements and coding compliance standards
