Certified Clinical Coder III

Job Summary

To ensure accurate and timely coding and billing of clinical services, the full-time remote Certified Clinical Coder III will perform specialized diagnosis and procedure coding, verify patient data, and communicate with clinical staff regarding coding and compliance issues.

Key responsibilities

• Perform highly specialized diagnosis and procedure coding for non-operative and operative procedures
• Verify patient data for accuracy and resolve discrepancies while processing charges in EPIC
• Discuss coding, documentation, and compliance issues with physicians and co-workers

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with five years of experience in professional medical coding
• Experience in two or three clinical specialties
• Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS-P) is required
• Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and coding conventions
• Proficiency in using Epic for analyzing encounters and notifying providers of necessary data corrections
