Job Summary

Reviewing patient records for accurate coding, the remote Certified Coder - CA Licensed will abstract diagnosis and procedure codes, ensuring compliance with guidelines while collaborating with departmental leadership to enhance coding practices.

Key responsibilities

• Abstracts and assigns diagnosis and procedure codes from patient records for billing and reimbursement
• Audits medical records to ensure compliance with coding standards and regulatory requirements
• Collaborates with departmental leadership to provide feedback and education on documentation and coding practices

Required qualifications

• High School Education/GED or equivalent, with an Associate's/Technical Degree preferred
• Two years of coding experience in a healthcare setting preferred
• Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Outpatient Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or equivalent required
• Knowledge of coding guidelines and legal requirements for compliance with federal and state regulations
• Experience in auditing medical records for accuracy and completeness preferred
