Certified Coder II (Gen Surg/Trauma)

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Coder II (Gen Surg/Trauma) to join their health information management team.

Key Responsibilities

• Abstracts information from medical records and assigns Profee codes using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS
• Reviews medical record documentation to ensure accurate Profee code assignment in compliance with guidelines
• Performs charge reconciliation and collaborates with staff to address discrepancies in coding

Required Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or Equivalent required; Associate's Degree in a related field preferred
• 2 years of professional coding experience and completion of advanced training in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology required
• CPC or CCS-P certification required upon hire; other specialty certifications preferred
• Advanced knowledge of procedural and clinical diagnosis coding for professional billing
• Knowledge of third-party regulations and payor billing requirements
