Job Summary
To support a hybrid work environment, the part-time Certified Coder - IL Licensed will review clinical documentation, apply correct coding and modifiers for services rendered, and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines.
Key responsibilities
- Review and analyze medical records for accuracy in coding professional services related to clinic, inpatient, and outpatient settings
- Verify and code diagnoses, evaluation and management, and procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
- Communicate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary documentation and ensure timely posting of charges
Required qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required; college degree in a health-related field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of coding experience as a certified coder preferred
- Certification from AHIMA or AAPC (CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA) is required
- Expert knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, E/M leveling, Modifiers, and ICD-10-CM diagnostic coding
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and coding software such as EncoderPro
