Certified Coder - Outpatient Surgery

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Sr. Coder Abstractor - Outpatient Surgery.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately codes and abstracts outpatient medical records and complex outpatient surgery procedures
• Assigns ICD10-CM diagnosis and CPT-4 procedure codes following established guidelines
• Maintains an organized system for coding reference materials and participates in educational activities

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Health Information or a minimum of 5 years coding experience in lieu of a degree
• Certification as RHIT, RHIA, or CCS is required
• New graduates must obtain certification within 12 months of hire
• One to three years of experience using ICD10-CM, ICD10 PCS, and CPT-4 coding systems
• Bachelor's degree in health information is preferred
