Certified Coder - Texas

Job Summary

Responsible for coding inpatient records, the full-time Certified Coder - Texas will ensure coding and DRG accuracy, maintain relationships with various healthcare teams, and utilize the 3M Encoder to classify medical records according to ICD-10-CM/PCS.

Key responsibilities

• Perform inpatient coding and DRG assignment with a focus on accuracy and timeliness
• Collaborate with Coding Manager, CDI team, and Case Management staff to maintain coding standards
• Utilize the 3M Encoder for accurate classification of medical records and assist with outpatient coding as needed

Required qualifications

• Three to five years of coding experience, with a preference for inpatient coding
• Advanced training in medical coding, including ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and APC
• Certification from AHIMA (RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or CCA) or AAPC Coding Certification
• High school diploma, GED, or higher education required
• Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
