Job Summary
Responsible for coding inpatient records, the full-time Certified Coder - Texas will ensure coding and DRG accuracy, maintain relationships with various healthcare teams, and utilize the 3M Encoder to classify medical records according to ICD-10-CM/PCS.
Key responsibilities
- Perform inpatient coding and DRG assignment with a focus on accuracy and timeliness
- Collaborate with Coding Manager, CDI team, and Case Management staff to maintain coding standards
- Utilize the 3M Encoder for accurate classification of medical records and assist with outpatient coding as needed
Required qualifications
- Three to five years of coding experience, with a preference for inpatient coding
- Advanced training in medical coding, including ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and APC
- Certification from AHIMA (RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or CCA) or AAPC Coding Certification
- High school diploma, GED, or higher education required
- Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
