Job Summary
Ensuring accurate and thorough documentation, the full-time Certified Coder - Virginia will assign diagnostic and procedure codes to medical records while maintaining a coding accuracy of 90% or better in a remote work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Organizes and prioritizes work to complete coding assignments within designated time frames, auditing records and querying clinical staff for clarification as needed
- Utilizes ICD-10-CM and CPT classification systems to assign codes accurately, adhering to billing requirements and maintaining productivity standards
- Maintains positive relationships with healthcare providers, assists in training other coders, and participates in the development of coding policies and procedures
Required qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- 1 year of experience in ICD-10 coding within a medical practice (Preferred)
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) certification from AAPC (Required upon hire)
