Certified Coding Specialist

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Coding Specialist for Outpatient Surgery in a remote setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately code Outpatient Surgery and Observation records using ICD10CM and CPT4 coding systems
• Ensure compliance with coding rules and regulations set by Regulatory Agencies
• Abstract prescribed data elements from medical records and collaborate with the team to meet departmental goals

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma, certification, GED, or equivalent experience
• AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist or AHIMA Registered Health Information Technician certification required
• Required Coding Certificate; must obtain CCS or RHIT certification within 2 years if not certified upon hire
• Knowledge of encoder systems and outpatient payment systems (OPPS, APCs, ASC)
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
