Certified Coding Specialist

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Coding Specialist III - ED and/or Day Surgery Coder (Part-time).

Key Responsibilities

• Code retrospective outpatient accounts using ICD-10 CM and CPT, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines
• Identify appropriate diagnoses and procedures to support medical necessity and maintain quality standards
• Review accounts in denial work queues and make recommendations for coding adjustments

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 3 years of acute hospital-based coding experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Relevant coding certifications (e.g., RHIA, RHIT, CCS, COC, CPC, CPC-H, CIRCC)
• Prior experience in ED and/or Day Surgery coding is preferred
• Experience working in a remote environment is preferred for PRN Coders
