Certified Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support a growing hospitalist practice, the full-time Certified Coding Specialist will review medical documentation, assign appropriate codes (ICD-10, HCPCS, CPT), and ensure compliance with coding standards while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Review and audit medical record documentation to ensure accurate coding and appropriate service reimbursement
• Convey coding guidelines to medical professionals to enhance documentation accuracy and compliance
• Participate in coding team meetings and serve as a subject matter expert on coding standards and regulations

Required qualifications

• Associate degree in Health Information Technology or Certification in Coding required
• Specific knowledge of diagnostic and procedural terminology related to ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding schemes
• Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or equivalent required
• Successful completion of coursework in medical terminology or human anatomy/physiology preferred
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
