Certified Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support a top-notch healthcare company, the full-time remote Certified Coding Specialist will provide critical assessment of health record documentation, accurately identify diagnoses and procedures for inpatient coding, and collaborate with physicians and clinical teams to ensure compliance and coding accuracy.

Key responsibilities

• Assess health record documentation to identify primary and secondary diagnoses and procedures for ICD-10-CM/PCS coding and MS-DRG assignment
• Abstract and compile clinical data elements according to established guidelines
• Collaborate with physicians and Clinical Documentation Specialists to resolve documentation ambiguities for accurate coding

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and completion of an ICD-10-CM/PCS coding program
• 3 years of inpatient coding experience in a large, complex acute healthcare setting
• CCS - Certified Coding Specialist or equivalent certification required upon hire
• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management, Nursing, or a related healthcare field preferred
• Advanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding guidelines and encoder software
