Job Summary
To support the cardiology department, the full-time Certified Coding Specialist will review, assign, and abstract professional and outpatient facility diagnostic and procedural codes while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements in a remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Organizes and prioritizes coding work to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital targets
- Assigns the most appropriate diagnosis and procedures to reflect the utilization of resources during patient encounters
- Recognizes documentation clarification opportunities and initiates coding queries or tasks
Required qualifications
- Certified Coding Specialist certification from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in medical coding
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience with cardiology E/M coding
- Understanding of medical terminology and documentation
