Certified Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support the cardiology department, the full-time Certified Coding Specialist will review, assign, and abstract professional and outpatient facility diagnostic and procedural codes while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Organizes and prioritizes coding work to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital targets
• Assigns the most appropriate diagnosis and procedures to reflect the utilization of resources during patient encounters
• Recognizes documentation clarification opportunities and initiates coding queries or tasks

Required qualifications

• Certified Coding Specialist certification from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or equivalent
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in medical coding
• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience with cardiology E/M coding
• Understanding of medical terminology and documentation
