Certified Coding Specialist

Job Summary

Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the Certified Coding Specialist will evaluate medical records to assign accurate ICD-10-CM diagnosis and CPT service codes while collaborating with the Coding team to ensure compliance and quality standards are met.

Key responsibilities:

• Examine medical records to determine appropriate ICD and CPT codes
• Utilize coding tools to verify the accuracy of assigned codes and abstract necessary data
• Maintain current knowledge of coding principles and participate in ongoing education and training

Required qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must possess one or more of the following credentials: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC-A), Certified Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding Specialist - Physician-Based (CCS-P) prior to hire
• Less than 24 months of health management professional coding experience
