Job Summary
To ensure accurate and compliant coding practices, the full-time Certified Coding Specialist will assign CPT and ICD-10 codes based on provider documentation, maintaining productivity goals in a 100% remote environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Accurately assign and sequence diagnosis and procedure codes to achieve correct Ambulatory Payment Classification assignments
- Analyze and perform follow-up tasks on coding denials while monitoring payer denial trends
- Maintain coding certification through continuing education and provide timely feedback to providers regarding documentation concerns
Required qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalency required
- Certification as a Certified Coding Associate (CCA) required
- Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS or CCS-P) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) preferred
- A minimum of five (5) years of coding experience in a medical environment is required
- Experience in cardiology, cardiothoracic, or vascular coding preferred
