Certified Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support a growing healthcare team, the part-time remote Certified Coding Specialist will review inpatient medical records, assign appropriate ICD-10 codes for diagnoses and procedures, and ensure compliance with coding standards while achieving high accuracy and productivity levels.

Key responsibilities

• Review and assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient medical records, ensuring accurate representation of diagnoses and procedures
• Utilize technical coding principles to maintain a quality standard of 95% accuracy while meeting productivity benchmarks
• Provide education to healthcare professionals on coding guidelines and documentation improvement techniques

Required qualifications

• Associate Degree or higher required
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification required
• Minimum of two years of inpatient coding experience in a medical environment
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding guidelines
• Ability to mentor and train other coding staff members
